Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

Note: The Brooklyn Research and Publishing Institute (BRPI) prioritizes a flexible and author-friendly approach to manuscript submission. Manuscripts may be submitted in any readable scholarly format to reduce the initial burden on authors. Strict adherence to a specific citation or formatting style is not required at the submission stage. Once a manuscript is accepted, the BRPI editorial team will format it according to the journal’s official layout.

Authors may choose to follow BRPI’s Manuscript Submission Guidelines or a standard academic style, such as APA, to facilitate the review and publication process. Adhering to a recognized style is encouraged, as it may help streamline peer review and improve readability.

The Brooklyn Research and Publishing Institute (BRPI) encourages authors to adhere to the following manuscript preparation guidelines to ensure a consistent, high-quality, and efficient review and publication process. Compliance with these guidelines facilitates peer review, indexing, and global dissemination of research. While these instructions are comprehensive, minor variations may apply depending on the research type, article category, or journal-specific requirements.

1. General Formatting

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTeX format.
  • Use a legible font, preferably Times New Roman, 12-point size, and double-spaced throughout the document.
  • Maintain 1-inch (2.54 cm) margins on all sides.
  • All pages should be numbered consecutively at the bottom right corner.
  • Use section headings and subheadings consistently to organize the manuscript clearly.

2. Structure of the Manuscript

Manuscripts should include the following sections, presented in the order listed below. For certain types of articles (e.g., reviews, case reports, short communications), specific sections may be modified; authors should refer to the journal’s article-type guidelines.

2.1 Title Page

The title page must contain:

  • Title of the manuscript: Clear, concise, and reflective of the study’s scope.
  • Full names of all authors in the order of contribution.
  • Institutional affiliations for each author, including department and university/institute.
  • Corresponding author contact details: Email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  • ORCID iDs of all authors (optional but strongly recommended).

2.2 Abstract

  • Provide a concise abstract of 150–250 words summarizing the study’s purpose, methodology, principal findings, and conclusions.
  • Avoid citations or abbreviations in the abstract unless essential.
  • Structure may vary depending on article type:
    • Original research: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion
    • Review articles: Scope, Key Themes, Implications

2.3 Keywords

  • Include 4–6 keywords that accurately reflect the core topics of the research.
  • Use terms that improve discoverability in academic databases.

2.4 Introduction

  • Present background information and context for the research problem.
  • State the research objectives, hypotheses, or research questions.
  • Highlight the significance of the study and its contribution to the field.

2.5 Materials and Methods / Methodology

  • Provide a detailed description of methods and experimental procedures sufficient to allow replication.
  • Include information on:
    • Study design
    • Sample size and selection criteria
    • Instruments, equipment, or software used
    • Statistical analyses and data handling procedures
  • Ethical approvals, informed consent, or animal welfare compliance should be clearly stated when applicable.

2.6 Results

  • Present findings clearly and objectively, supported by tables, figures, and statistics.
  • Avoid interpreting results in this section; focus on factual reporting.
  • Use subsections for clarity if multiple experiments or analyses are reported.

2.7 Discussion

  • Interpret results in the context of existing literature.
  • Highlight implications, strengths, and limitations of the study.
  • Suggest directions for future research where applicable.

2.8 Conclusion

  • Provide a brief summary of main findings and their significance.
  • Conclusions should align with the study objectives and not introduce new data.

2.9 Acknowledgments

  • Recognize contributions from individuals or organizations that do not meet authorship criteria.
  • Disclose financial support, grants, or institutional resources.

2.10 References

  • Include a complete list of all cited works.
  • Use a consistent referencing style (APA, MLA, or Vancouver) as per the journal’s requirement.
  • Ensure all references are accurate and retrievable.

3. Tables and Figures

  • Number tables and figures consecutively in the order of appearance (e.g., Table 1, Figure 1).
  • Provide descriptive titles or captions.
  • Tables should be editable text, not images.
  • Figures must be high-resolution (minimum 300 dpi) in TIFF, PNG, or JPEG format.
  • Use color figures where necessary to improve clarity.
  • Each table or figure should be referred to in the main text.

4. Language and Style

  • Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatical American English.
  • Use concise, objective, and formal academic language.
  • Avoid jargon or complex expressions unless necessary for technical accuracy.
  • Non-native English authors are encouraged to use professional language editing services before submission.
  • Maintain consistent terminology throughout the manuscript.

5. Supplementary Materials

  • Additional materials, such as datasets, multimedia files, or appendices, can be submitted as supplementary files.
  • All supplementary materials must be cited in the main text.
  • These materials will be published online alongside the article and should comply with file format and size requirements.
  • Manuscripts must comply with internationally recognized ethical standards.
  • Authors must disclose conflicts of interest, financial support, or affiliations that could influence the research.
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, or duplicate publication is strictly prohibited.
  • Ethical approvals (e.g., IRB, animal care) must be stated clearly where applicable.

7. Article Types and Specific Guidelines

BRPI journals accept multiple article types, each with slight variations in structure:

Original Research: Full-length papers reporting new empirical findings.

Review Articles: Comprehensive synthesis of existing literature, critical analyses, and future research directions.

Short Communications / Brief Reports: Concise presentation of significant preliminary or novel findings.

Case Reports / Clinical Studies: Detailed reports of individual or group cases with clinical or applied relevance.

Opinion, Commentary, or Perspective Articles: Author’s insight, discussion, or viewpoint on current trends or issues in the field.

Authors should refer to journal-specific article type requirements for word limits, structure, and formatting nuances.

8. Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit their articles through the online submission portal .

If any difficulties arise, manuscripts may also be submitted via email to the Executive Editor at editor@thebrpi.org. In such cases, authors must provide all required information in a structured format similar to the online system. At a minimum, submissions should include two files: (1) a title page with all authors and funding information, and (2) an anonymous full manuscript including the abstract and keywords. To maintain the blind peer review process, the full manuscript file should not contain any author information, including the corresponding author’s name or affiliation.

Incomplete submissions will be returned to the authors for completion before they can be considered for review.

9. Final Notes

Adherence to these guidelines ensures a smooth peer review and publication process and maximizes the visibility and impact of research. Manuscripts that do not conform to the standards may be returned for revision before editorial evaluation.

BRPI strives to make the submission process author-friendly while maintaining rigorous scholarly and ethical standards. Although optional, authors are encouraged to carefully follow these guidelines to enhance the clarity, professionalism, and academic credibility of their work.
